With 866 products presented, coming from more than 63 countries in the world, the last edition of the Green Factor Design Contest has ended. Is habs been a big scouting project launched a year ago by Infiniti to recruit, among the under 35s, the new promise of “green” design. In fact, the contest participants were asked to design a pair of recyclable and environmentally friendly products, entirely made of wood.

One year after its launch, the jury – chaired by architect Stefano Boeri and composed of Interior director Gilda Bojardi as vice-president, H-Farm project manager Timothy O’Connell and group sales and marketing manager OMP Marco Ceccato – has awarded the young designer Alessandro Rossi and his project 4 DIMENSIONS. Born in Desenzano sul Garda and grown in Mantua, after a period of apprenticeship as a surveyor, Alessandro graduated in Industrial Design at the University of Ferrara in 2017.

4 Dimensions is a project that rewards the essentiality of the form, the non-trivial coherence between the two elements – the chair and the stool – and the potential of wood to be imagined into an industrial production system“, affirmed the architect Boeri.

According to Gilda Bojardi, it has been “a contest full of proposals well contextualized with elaborate, in some cases, detailed and refined, that the jury examined in a stimulating comparison in which we had to choose forcefully trying to reward the most innovative project and achievable“.

I am very happy with the quality of the proposals made” added Timothy O ‘Connell, “with particular reference to the innovations applied to the products to make them unique both in terms of design and impact on the environment“.

Marco Ceccato explained: “a well-deserved award for many reasons: cleaning lines, looking for two completely different variants in the chair and stool proposal, to which are added the precise research of the production phases and the completeness of the design brief “.

It was a pleasant surprise to have won the Green Factor Contest,” said the winner Alessandro, “I’m still incredulous for the news I received, I wanted to get involved and try. This result is an indescribable joy. I thank you Infiniti for the opportunity they offer each year to young people like me to get noticed, to emerge and make themselves known“.

Due to the huge quantity of projects received, and the high quality of many proposals, the Jury has decided to name two Special Mentions which have been assigned to:

  • Sebasatiano Tonelli and Fabrizio Bendazzoli for the project VOLTA
  • Alessio Betteni, Simone Colombo and Arianna Innamorati for the project FUGA
